VW electric cars will have autonomy over 800 km
Volkswagen said that 2020 will produce electric cars that will have a range exceeding 800 km. This km limit is more than enough for one day driving environment.
Martin Eberhard said that the limit of 800 km can be achieved in coming years. It worked for Tesla in 2003-2007 and in 2007 moved to Volkswagen. Eberhard is the general over-engineering phase of the new electric models. He was interviewed by Bus on developing electric models to the German carmaker.
Electronics Research Laboratory in Palo Alto is the second largest center in the world Volkswagen. There they held the key tests related to electrical technology. Eberhard currently working on developing lithium-ion batteries for the new Golf Blue-e-motion, It-Up! E-throne and Audi. Volkswagen is working with the same lithium-ion batteries like those used for laptops.
This type of battery is very common, so the production cost is reduced and the development of such batteries is growing. Martin said the batteries were now working with a range of two times higher than those used by Tesla two years ago. He wanted to mention the fact that the future is to develop batteries with greater autonomy, not that of fast loading. A range of 800 km is more than sufiecienta for driving one day.
