Tata Nano, currently considered the cheapest car in the world, will have a competitor that will cost almost $ 500 less than this. A new car company in London, United Kingdom, called EcoCa Ltd, announced Thursday, November 26, as it prepares to produce a vehicle for two seats on gasoline, whose price will be around 2200 dollars with 487 dollars in May less than the Nano's price (2687 dollars). "We identified India as a lucrative market, where we can achieve the objective is to obtain a price of 2,200 dollars for our model," said Karman M Naghdi, president of EcoCa Ltd.
London company will produce this car only, but in partnership with a manufacturer in India. Naghdi declined to disclose the contributor's name which is in negotiations, but an official close to the situation said it would be about Mahindra & Mahindra.
There are currently no plans or drawings yet in terms of design the new car, but it is known that it will take much of Beatlle VW model lines.
The vehicle will weigh 330 kg (Nano weighs 635 kg), with an engine under the hood 340 cubic centrimatri, coupled to an automatic transmission. Speed that can reach EcoCa model will be 70 km / h 33 km / h lower than that achieved by the Tata Nano, and consumption is 3.5 litres/100 km.
