Production of zero emission Honda FCX Clarity

For the first time, a car fuel cell fate of a chain of production

On Monday, 16 June 2008, Japan, Honda FCX Clarity, vehicle fuel cell running on hydrogen, is leaving the chain of the first factory in the world devoted entirely to a hydrogen vehicle. After 19 years of development, the arrival of the vehicle to hydrogen in the "real world" marks the beginning of a new era for cleaner vehicles.

The Clarity FCX, which rejects that water to escape, was presented at a ceremony commemorating the output string of first model "Honda Automobile New Model Center in Tochigi prefecture, where Honda has also introduced various new production processes. Among the early adopters were actress Jamie Lee Curtis and her husband, film director Christopher Guest and film producer Ron Yerxa.

A new channel dedicated to mounting assembly vehicle fuel cell has been established "Honda Automobile New Model Center. It includes unique manufacturing processes for hydrogen vehicles, such as installation of the fuel cell and a tank of hydrogen. Honda Engineering Co., Ltd., produces all fuel cells, also in Tochigi. For manufacturing, automated equipment has been specifically developed to ensure the utmost precision, while allowing a serial production of cells; several hundred are required for each fuel cell. Through these initiatives, Honda made steady progress in the field of the production technologies and fuel cell and hydrogen vehicles. Honda is approaching and the achievement of its objective to enable more widespread use of hydrogen vehicles.

The FCX Clarity was designed from the outset as a vehicle fuel cell. It is powered by the fuel cell compact, efficient and powerful Honda V Flow. With its profile lowered, dynamic and sophisticated, made possible by a provision of innovative battery, Clarity FCX has an elegant style and great qualities of leadership and an unparalleled environmental awareness. The marketing in the form of rental is scheduled for early July the USA and this autumn in Japan. Sales forecasts for both Japan and the USA are expected to reach tens of units per year, totaling nearly 200 units within three years.
