Jaguar Land Rover will Fire 300 Employees and Will Cease Production Model X-Type
British manufacturer of luxury cars, Jaguar Land Rover will cut 300 employees at the Halewood factory, north of Great Britain, and will stop production model X-Type, because of problems in the sector, caused by global economic crisis, writes Reuters.
"The work that was particularly affected by recession. Retail sales of the company fell 28% in the last 10 months," said Executive Director David Smith.
Car manufacturer, owned by Indian company Tata Motors announced that it will close the factory at Halewood - which has 2,000 employees and produces, also, Land Rover Freelander model - but the work will be suspended for approximately three weeks.
A Spokesman of the group announced that Jaguar Land Rover still discuss with the government to guarantee for a loan of 340 million euros granted by the European Investment Bank (EIB) and approved at the beginning of the year.
"We hope that we will reach you as soon as a happy ending," said spokesman.
Tata Motors announced last month that Jaguar Land Rover registered a loss after tax of 306 million pounds (501.5 million U.S. dollars) in the ten months completed in March, he warned, also on other staff reductions.
