FIA Introduced the Top 10 for F1 and WRC
Since 2010, the FIA introduced new top 10 system, both in F1 and in the WRC.
The new system introduced by the FIA awarded Top 10 hits the first 10 grades, replacing the old system, which give points only receive 8 classes. The new system will be implemented starting this year both in the WRC, and in Formula 1. The new system will make drivers be more competitive for 1st place.
In the old system in place between 1 and 2 was a difference of only 5 points, with the new system, the difference grows to 7 points, 2nd place received only 18 points. FIA decided to simulate this drivers to win, not to settle a strategic position.
The new scheme gives points based on position in order following way: 25 points for 1st place, 18 points for 2nd place, 15 points for 3rd place, 12 points for 4th place, 10 points for 5th place, 8 points - for 6th place, 6 points for 7th place, 4 points for 8th place, 2 points for 9th place and 1 point for place-10.
Sporting Working Group has proposed and giving points for pole position, fastest lap and also suggested two pit stops, despite the ban refueling during the race. The latter have been rejected by the FIA.
