Golder Ranch Fire District, Arizona - NHTSA Authorized CPS Inspection Center

It is incumbent upon grandparents, parents and guardians to ensure that infants and children are properly secured when traveling in an automobile. In 1999, motor vehicle collisions killed 1,135 children (aged 0 – 10) and injured 182,000 across the nation (NHTSA). The majority of these deaths and injuries occurred to unrestrained children. These statistics reiterate the importance of child safety seats. To help prevent your child or grandchild from becoming a statistic, Golder Ranch Fire would like to provide you with the following information:

  • All children less eighty (80) pounds should use a child safety seat / booster
  • Never use a safety seat that has been involved in an accident
  • The rear middle seat is the safest region in an automobile
  • Follow manufacturer guidelines when installing a car seat
  • Seek professional guidance for initial installation of safety seats
  • Infants less than twenty (20) pounds should be in a rear facing position

Arizona Revised Statute 28-907 mandates that all children under the age of five (5) years shall be restrained in a child safety seat device. Please take the time to ensure that your grandchild or child is properly restrained in the car seat. A few extra seconds can mean the difference between life and death. If you have any questions about the selection or installation of a child safety seats, please feel free to contact us at 818-1017 or e-mail at prev...@golderranchfire.org.
