In addition to enhancing the beauty and safety of Fountain's neighborhoods through pro- active enforcement of City Codes, our department is dedicated to promoting safety for children through Child Passenger Safety Seat Checks and Bicycle Helmet Safety. Code Enforcement Officers are associated with the Colorado Springs SAFE KIDS Coalition and receive training and certification through the National SafeKids organization.
Code Enforcement is your local point of contact for Child Passenger Safety information and Child Car Seat inspections. The most common errors found on a car seat inspection are loose or improperly fitted harness restraints and loosely installed seats utilizing the vehicle lap shoulder belts. A child car seat check involves an inspection of the child car seat and a complete removal and re-installation of the seat with ongoing instruction and assistance to the parent or caregiver. A scheduled seat check takes approximately 20 minutes.
