Alaska Injury Prevention Center - NHTSA Authorized CPS Inspection Center

Injury Prevention Team members come from all areas of Alaska. Some have professional concerns that link them to specific safety issues, while others are concerned citizens. Each team uses injury hospitalization and death data to target problems and design interventions. Some members of the team are staff researchers and injury epidemiologists, others have professional concerns that link them to specific safety issues and some are concerned volunteers from the community.

The Alaska Injury Prevention Center (AIPC) is a non-profit corporation with a mission to prevent injuries to the people of Alaska. We have a dedicated team including public health professionals, a board of directors, and many volunteers from around the state. AIPC supports seven safety teams:

  • Motor Vehicle & Pedestrian Safety
  • FOCUS Curriculum
  • Suicide Prevention
  • Kid's Safety
  • Home & Leisure Injury Prevention
  • Prevention of Assaults & Homicide
  • Elder's Safety

Mission

The Mission of the Alaska Injury Prevention Center is to prevent unintentional and intentional injuries, thereby reducing the pain and suffering resulting from these tragedies to the people of Alaska.

To accomplish this mission, AIPC sponsors projects and works with communities to promote bicycle helmets, car seats, pedestrian reflectorization, drowning prevention, suicide prevention, firearm safety, seat belts, booster seats, ice grippers for seniors, work place safety, etc.
