Honda Insight hybrid car has a fuel consumption of 4.4 liters and 101 g / km CO2
The latest version of the Honda Insight Hybrid was unveiled on Sunday 11 January at the Auto Show in Detroit, the North American International Auto Show. “The Insight is a new step in the evolution of hybrid technology because it uses a more economical to produce the Honda hybrid technology Integrated Motor Assist (IMA). This results in an unprecedented level of accessibility for customers worldwide, combined with a consumption of 4.4 l/100 km and CO2 emissions of just 101 g / km.
Commenting on the presentation of the Insight, Ken Keir, Vice President of Honda Motor Europe said: "Honda sells hybrid vehicles for nearly a decade, but the Insight is the first time that the brand makes this technology available on a five-door car, five places at a more affordable price. The Insight IMA combines our system, several times winner of the trophy engine of the year for assistance in conducting easy to use (Eco Assist) to guide our clients to maximize their fuel savings in real conditions. By combining an electric motor with a gasoline engine with high efficiency, the Insight provides the driver not only of low CO2 emissions, but also very small releases of other greenhouse gases such as N2O. "
Design five-door hatchback incorporates many stylistic elements and the aerodynamic profile of the Honda FCX Clarity fuel cell. Complementing its sleek profile, the Insight was designed with a low center of gravity, which was facilitated by the IMA system which has all been reviewed. This enables us to offer customers a pleasant car behavior and high modularity.
To enable owners of the Insight to derive full benefit of the Honda hybrid technology, the car is equipped with a new interactive system for improving fuel consumption called "Eco Assist" (short for Ecological Drive Assist System). Eco Assist combines multiple functions:
- ECON mode, activated by the driver, which optimizes the management of Continuously Variable Transmission CVT, engine and other components of the drive to save fuel.
- A function to return information using the color display of the tachometer for real-time guide the driver to conduct more effective in terms of consumption.
- An evaluation functions of fuel consumption, which provides an assessment of efficiency in real time, and the cumulative scores in the long term.
The key equipment of the Insight security structure to include Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) which optimizes the protection of occupants and helps to minimize damage to vehicles third, 6 airbags (front, side and curtain) and design of the front to minimize injury to pedestrians upon impact.
The Insight has serial records 60/40 folding rear seats, dashboard into two parts, the automatic air conditioning, electric windows, Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), steering wheel adjustable for height and depth and an MP3-compatible audio system with an auxiliary jack and speed-compensated volume.
Moreover equipped with extra including cruise control, an audio with six speakers with USB interface and pallets gearshift on the steering wheel. Another version is distinguished by the addition to this equipment navigation system GPS.
The driver of the Insight is a block i-VTEC 1.3 liter 88-hp aluminum alloy. It is paired with an automatic continuously variable transmission (CVT). This high efficiency motor and low friction is assisted by a new generation of Honda hybrid system Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) which guarantees low fuel consumption and low emissions.
The IMA system consists of the Insight into an engine of 14 horse power, a sophisticated battery and an intelligent control unit (IPU) compact. It recovers kinetic energy during deceleration and braking and assists the gasoline engine in acceleration phase. Housed in the floor of the vehicle, the battery and compact IMA UEE allowed installing files to the rear seats fold 60/40.
The IMA system can operate in all-electric mode during certain phases of driving low to medium speeds. It also disables the cylinder gasoline engine during deceleration and cutting the engine when the vehicle is stopped.
Honda is a leader in the development of cleaner vehicle technologies and more efficient fuels. The first generation of the Insight, introduced in 1999, was the first hybrid gasoline / electric marketed in Europe and the USA. Honda has already revealed its sales target of over 500 000 hybrid vehicles per year to run, with the addition to the Civic Hybrid and the Insight based on the concept CR-Z and d ' a hybrid version of the Jazz.
Honda is also a pioneer in the development of sophisticated alternatives to fossil fuels such as fuel cell car running on hydrogen zero-emission Honda FCX Clarity, the vehicle serial low environmental impact the world's most advanced.
